Jaka Juhant’s work in 3D design and digital painting is inspired by video games and fantasy movies, exploring connections between digitality and incorporeal states of being. By creating different ambients, exploring technical possibilities, and using worldbuilding, he is interested in the feeling of corporality in a digital space and the changing ideas of a body in the context of posthumanism.  

In the interactive animation Horse, we encounter a motif that frequently appears in his works, connected to metaphorical interpretations of power, movement, and the ideal body. Set in a post-apocalyptic park, the animation presents us with a horse that, as a digital ghost, relays cryptic messages to us. A monotonous, black-and-white landscape with plasticky, hovering 3D objects and an alien entity looming ominously overhead further intensifies the sense of alienation. The fact that the horse is injured and exists only as a disembodied entity potentiates the exploration of bodily experiences that can be transferred into digital environments.

By granting this kind of interactive agency to the viewer, the artist draws a parallel with the anime video games that inspired him, where the narrative flow is often dependent on the player. The visual world he has constructed no longer celebrates a romanticized past but instead offers a dark, poetic vision of the future, imbued with ecological allusions to pollution and the fragility of the ecosystem. The story thus invites us into an endless loop that interweaves metaphors about transience, the sustainability of life, and new forms of existence in a post-apocalyptic world.


Jaka Juhant is a multimedia artist working in the fields of video, illustration and graphic design. He is a member of the Podmladek artist collective with which he has exhibited in multiple group shows. Since 2023 he has been a member of the Nimaš Izbire collective, doing graphic design and VJing.

Jaka Juhant inspiracijo za svoja dela v 3D tehniki in digitalnem slikarstvu črpa iz videoiger in fantazijskih filmov, preko katerih raziskuje povezave med digitalnostjo in breztelesnimi stanji. Z ustvarjanjem različnih ambientov, raziskovanjem tehničnih zmožnosti ter gradnjo novih svetov razmišlja o občutku telesnosti v digitalnem prostoru in spreminjanju predstav o telesu v kontekstu posthumanizma.  

V interaktivni animaciji Konj naletimo na motiv, ki se pogosto pojavlja v njegovih delih ter je povezan z metaforičnimi interpretacijami moči, gibanja in idealnega telesa. V interaktivni animaciji, postavljeni v post-apokaliptični park, srečamo konja, ki nam kot digitalni duh posreduje kriptična sporočila. Monotona, črno-bela pokrajina s plastično visečimi 3D objekti in tuja entiteta, ki zlovešče visi nad nami še dodatno potencira občutek odtujenosti. Dejstvo, da je konj poškodovan in obstaja le kot breztelesna entiteta, še potencira raziskovanje izkušenj telesa, ki jih je mogoče prenesti v digitalna okolja. 

S prepuščanjem tovrstne interaktivne moči gledalcu, umetnik vzpostavlja vzporednico z anime videoigrami, ki so ga navdihnile, kjer je potek pripovedi pogosto odvisen od igralca. Vizualni svet, ki ga je zgradil, ne slavi več romantizirane preteklosti, temveč ponudi mračno, poetično vizijo prihodnosti, prežeto z ekološkimi aluzijami na onesnaženje in krhkostjo ekosistema. Zgodba nas tako vabi v neskončno zanko, ki prepleta metafore o minljivosti, vzdržnosti življenja in novih oblikah eksistence v post-apokaliptičnem svetu.


Jaka Juhant je intermedijski umetnik, ki deluje na področju videa, ilustracije in grafičnega oblikovanja. Je član umetniškega kolektiva Podmladek s katerim je razstavljal na večih skupinskih razstavah. Od 2023 je član kolektiva Nimaš Izbire pri katerem sodeluje z grafičnim oblikovanjem in VJ-anjem.
